SEAFARER'S DAY
On the 3rd of July 2019, ALAM have been invited to participate in the seafarers day event conducted by Marine Department of Malaysia situated at Port Kelang.
We were ask to be there for a straight lining duty to escort Yang Berbahagia Loke Siew Fook the Minister of Transportation of Malaysia who came during the event.
After the event was launched,we had a opportunity to have a tour inside the mighty MPV POLRIS.It is a modern ship using azimuth sailing which means no rudders or steering wheel to navigate,it is totally controlled by the 360' rotating propeller. This vessel was own by our Marine Department Of Malaysia (MARDEP).We had a great time there even if its just for a short period of time.We at least had the picture of what we will be doing onboard in the future
To myself who was flabbergasted by the tour , were thankful as it was my
first experience onboard a vessel.Anyway thanks for or beloved Warden JEFF for helping us throughout the tour.

As in previous years, the campaign was centred on social media. The 2019 campaign hashtag is: # IAmOnBoard."# I Am On Board" can be used by anyone engaging in the campaign, male or female, to show their solidarity for gender equality in seafaring.
We created downloadable cards bearing the hashtag, the SDG 5 icon and the Day of the Seafarer logo. We invited all campaign supporters to take selfies or other photographs which include the card and to post them on social media with the hashtag. As in previous years, the campaign was centred on social media. All IMO's social media platforms were featured. Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounted for most activity.
